Reflections

While reviewing the pictures for this journal we were struck by the looks on our faces and those of all the other C2C-ers on that final day – there were broad grins and smiles on every face for most of the day. It had been a great walk, a great experience, a great achievement, and everyone who finished was elated to have done it. And sharing the walk with those people added enormously to the experience.

We were fortunate to have had David and Robyn along for their great company, persistence and support. However, they had some unfinished C2C business. Robyn began the walk with badly blistered feet from walking around London. She managed to walk most days of the first week, despite obvious pain. The walk over Striding Edge strained her recently repaired knee, but that didn't stop her. Coming down with a severe cold was the final straw. So Robyn saw the second half of the walk from the Sherpa Van. In 2014 Robyn and David returned with their daughter to successfully complete the C2C.

The C2C had been such a wonderful interlude in our life that, as Wainwright had observed, we finished with regret. So would we be back????? In 2014 we met up with David and Robyn after they completed their C2C while we too were again walking across England.
