About Us

Mary and Graham are in their sixties, live in Brisbane in sub-tropical Australia, and enjoy birdwatching and walking.

Mary grew up in England but has lived most of her life in Australia. If unencumbered by a husband, family and a job, she would prefer to live in England. Mary manages a university laboratory researching motor neurone disease.

Graham has lived all his life in or near Brisbane. He has always enjoyed travelling, both in Australia and elsewhere. Graham has worked in agricultural research, research policy, and government policy analysis. He retired in 2011.

When we told Graham’s mum about our walk plans, she told us we were too old for that sort of thing. We reckon we’re still young enough for that sort of thing, but we’ll use ‘too old codgers’ as our label. Incidentally, Graham’s mum, at around 90, still mows her lawn (and we’re too old!).
